THESE ARE THE MAIN REASON WHY YOUR LIPS ARE STILL DRY & CHAPPED!

May 5, 2023 | Skincare

Dry and flaky lips are a huge issue for many. Not only does it cause discomfort but it’s also painful to deal with.

But how can you address the issues if you’re not aware of the root causes? If you want to know, this beauty creator shares some of the most common causes why you may constantly experience those pesky lip problems!

  1. Extreme Weather

Extreme temperature can damage and dry out not only your skin but also your lips! She explained that when changes in the weather occur, the body is more likely to be dehydrated.

  1. Medicine side effect

Another common cause is medication. Certain prescribed medication can actually cause your lips to dry and peel.

Certain medications and supplements are known to be the common culprit for lip issues such as:

  • Vitamin A
  • Retinoids (Retin-A, Differin)
  • Lithium
  • Chemotherapy drugs

  1. Lip licking habits

And the last one is probably what many are guilty of doing. While it’s important to keep the lips moist, she stresses that constantly licking it won’t do the trick. In fact, it only worsens your lip condition!

And now that she has broken down the causes, here are some healthier habits she opted for many to try instead.

  1. Stop picking the dry & dead skin on the lips.

While it can be tempting (and satisfying!), she instead recommends many to choose to buff away the dead skin using a lip scrub for 3 to 4 times a week.

  1. Lip balm

Once scrubbed, she recommends to apply a layer of moisturising lip balm with Shea Butter as they’re really great to moisturise the lips.

  1. Water!

And lastly, the inside of our body needs sufficient water, so she reminds many to stay hydrated by having enough water intake throughout the day.

Are you surprised by the causes? Who would’ve thought something so simple can end up damaging your lips, right?

Avoid anything that worsen your lips and stick with the right products to ensure that your lips stay moist and glowing!
